Plastic injection molding process to its highest precision
Injection molding is certainly the most common industrial process to transform plastic. Regarding high performance plastics, however, such process require specific know-how and performing tooling.
Injection of high performance plastic requires specific know-how
Choosing the right equipment, especially the mold, adapted to both production rate and precision is the know-how of all injectors.
Regarding high performance plastics, the process requires but lot of know-how compared to standard plastics. First, due to its high viscosity at molten state, PTFE, the most common fluoropolymer, can’t be injected. It can easily be replaced by other fluoropolymers. PFA, FEP, ETFE can be injected and are good solutions when requiring injected parts. And of course PEEK and PI are injectable high performance polymers too.
Second, and more important, high temperatures involved in melting high performance polymer require specific toolings around the molds. The equipments must be well adapted to the pressure and the production cycles. There, experience in such difficult materials will make all the difference in the quality of the final production.
In association with this high temperature, compounds are also often more abrasive or corrosive and tools require more precise control, and specific technologies requiring special steel implementation.
3P offers custom solutions for plastics injection
We fill in requests based on drawings or on specifications, for a high production rate like automotive industry or smaller needs like Fluid Handling systems or aeronautics.
Overmolding, insert and assemblies also with engineering thermoplastics like POM or PA are available.
The group 3P offers a comprehensive solution in injection molding for all demands
While 3P focuses on high performance plastics processing, 3P has rapidly included engineering plastics like polyamide or POM, to complete its offer and allow the selection of the best available solution.
In the recent years, the group 3P has also acquired a sister company in Toulouse, France, dedicated to injection molding of engineering and high performance plastics: Occitanie Plastiques, known as OCP. OCP fully completes the know-how of the group in injection molding.
While the historical equipment of 3P are dedicated to high volume and focus on high performance polymers, OCP brings its know-how in small and medium volume, with competitiveness, reactivity and high diversity of know-how: all materials, all kind of molds, technical or basic parts.
With such a know-how, the group 3P, either with its historical plant or with OCP, is highly flexible and can adapt to all requests.
