Food and beverage industry equipments are often concerned.
Self-lubricating materials allow high efficiency, low maintenance and avoid the risk of contamination by grease or oil. Thus they are common in a full range of food processing or food handling machinery. Moreover, most high performance polymers can be supplied with FDA or WRAS approval requirements. This requirements are not extensive: other regulations can be fulfilled, for example CE regulation 1935/2004, (EU) 10/2011 (migration test for plastic semi-finished products). Beverage handling or heating is then totally safe with tested materials.
