C&rsquo;est pourquoi on l&rsquo;appelle aussi ruban de plombier ou ruban t\u00e9flon, m\u00eame s&rsquo;il ne fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence qu&rsquo;au nom g\u00e9n\u00e9rique, et non \u00e0 la marque d\u00e9pos\u00e9e de Chemours. Ce ruban lisse est utilis\u00e9 pour \u00e9tanch\u00e9ifier les filetages des tuyaux. Disponibles sous forme de bobines, ces produits facilitent le raccord de tuyaux, lubrifiant le filetage et permettant un meilleur serrage, tout en emp\u00eachant les fuites d\u2019eau.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Bien que le ruban PTFE semble grand public, il est \u00e9galement largement utilis\u00e9 dans les installations industrielles pour garantir leur \u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 \u00e0 de nombreux fluide sou gaz. Des grades sp\u00e9ciaux existent par exemple pour l&rsquo;eau potable, mais aussi pour les gaz industriels ou encore les gaz m\u00e9dicaux. Dans ce cas, l&rsquo;application n\u00e9cessite un ruban sans graisse, pour pr\u00e9server la puret\u00e9 du gaz. L\u00e0 encore, la r\u00e9sistance du PTFE \u00e0 la temp\u00e9rature, \u00e0 la corrosion, sa puret\u00e9 et ses propri\u00e9t\u00e9s d&rsquo;\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 sont indispensables.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Le ruban de plombier est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement blanc. En effet, il est utilis\u00e9 depuis longtemps dans des industries tr\u00e8s exigeantes, qui n\u00e9cessitent les meilleurs r\u00e9sultats en termes de performances et de s\u00e9curit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<div class=\"column70\">Le meilleur exemple est l&rsquo;utilisation de ruban PTFE dans les c\u00e2bles \u00e9lectriques. PTFE cru est enroul\u00e9 autour du conducteur avant d\u2019\u00eatre fritt\u00e9 Ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 permet \u00e9galement d&rsquo;obtenir des c\u00e2bles plus s\u00fbrs et plus flexibles pour la m\u00eame isolation, par rapport aux c\u00e2bles \u00e0 isolation extrud\u00e9e.
