These C-F bonds, instead of the carbon-hydrogen (C-H) bonds that form the most common plastics, are at the heart of its performances. They offer one of the most stable structures to the polymer.<br \/>\nWith the use of PTFE began the use of high performance plastics, with performance that most materials, and especially engineering thermoplastics, can\u2019t achieve. The performances that made PTFE stand out are its low friction properties and its high temperature resistance. It shows <\/span>excellent dielectric properties, independent of both frequency and temperature.<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">PTFE is well known for its low friction. PTFE has on the lowest coefficient of friction of solids, and the lowest one amongst plastics. Mechanical applications especially often require improved physical characteristics.<\/p>\n<p>A proper combination of fillers, components added in the polymer matrix, will further enhance the following factors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Creep resistance<\/li>\n<li>wear resistance<\/li>\n<li>thermal conductivity<\/li>\n<li>arc resistance<\/li>\n<li>dimensional stability<\/li>\n<li>hardness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a general rule, most properties, and especially tensile strength, drop sharply with the percentage of the incorporated filler.<\/p>\n<p>This has to be carefully calculated before choosing the right compound for its correct application.<\/p>\n<p>Where parts need to retain a degree of elasticity, the compound used will generally be low on filler.
